I have had a look at academic research one of the book i have had a look at is

Brode, Douglas (1995)
Money, Women,  and Guns
Carol publishing group
New York

In this book i found a chapter on Bonnie and Clyde, and how this was one of the first ever film that changed the way the crime genre was portrayed. Also how within the story that begin they create a love romance  and from here we see the crime genre kike in to the film and see all the action of guns and robbery and also them together create mayhem.

In my last lesson I did some popular criticism witch I had a look at the different sites and the reviews all on the same site so I could compare them all together. Today I plan on doing research on academic criticism and have a look at the different perspective on my case study.

I have had a look at the instituinal side of my films and how much was spent on the film the buget also who it was distributed by also and if it was all the background research for the film that i need 2 understand the film and the purpose of it if was for pure intertainment or there is a hidden meaning really behind the production of the film.
this link i found a study on women in the crime genre.

Wednesday, 25 March 2009

I now have developed my hypothesis and now know firmly what i want to do.
My question is ' Does the crime genre give more opportunities to women to play dominate role in films.'
The films that i am looking at are The Godfather part 2, Bonnie and Clyde and Pulp Fiction.
I have started looking at The godfather and will pic out particular scenes to analyse and also that show examples of women in dominant roles, this is because the film is too long to analyse and not all of it might be relevant just the most relevant examples and i will pic and use them in my exam.

I am going to have a look at women in film and how the different roles of women are shown in action films. How some are shown as confidant strong young women and other as sex symbols how each characteristic is portrayed in to different films and certain confrontation around certain actors which i will touch on briefly. Also to see that the actress that plays that role in the film how does this effect the image of the film that it try to portray to its audience.

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (homework)

The reviews
Sukhedev Sandhu: The daily telegraph (top critic)

The anti slumdog millionaire: a film that stately tasteful and genteelly melancholic rather than fevered rollicking and euphoric it’s a film about time that almost seems out of time.
This critic has a positive outlook on how he sees the film in his perspective of the film it seems to be one which is full of everything. He also tries to explain the concept of time in the film and how it is portrayed also saying the film is a gently and smoothly the film runs also that it is not much of a action packed film with a smooth running story line but also at the same time it confuses you and you are unable to understand the concept of the film when you just look at it at the start.

The critic here is working for the daily telegraph and is well known around also have done reviews for other films such as Valkyei, Marley and Me. This review tells the viewer that this is a film is one that not practically that one of every one choose a little similar to Atonement. And we are able to picture the film and come to our own conclusion of wanting to go see it or not.

Peter Bradshaw: Guardian UK (top critic)

Remove "curious" from the title and replace it with "twee and pointless", and you're close to it. What a incredible shaggy-puppy of a movie, a cobweb-construction patched together with CGI, prosthetics, gibberish and warm tears.

This review has a negative look on the film as it is quite harsh saying ‘twee pointless’ finding the film of having no point to the storyline and how it simulates u in no way possible how it also gibberish of it making no senses and how it is a sample of a film with no meaning and point. H e has a look at mostly at the mise-en-scene and how it has no positive effect on the film how it does not help the film in any way of enhancing the story line and how it is just patched together just a complicated set of sequences.

He is critic of the guardian which is a broadsheet paper that has a large effect on middle class viewers who are usually the ones o go see a film of this genre as it cater to their taste and how they find their films and expect a certain level of interest. This has a certain level of reliability on the principle of that every individual has different taste in film and enjoy different things.

Simon Thompson: Heart 106.2

Benjamin Button is an absolute masterpiece and is probably one of the greatest films of all time.
This has a positive look at the film showing it in a great light and one that we all would what to go and watch it looks at the film as a hole and how it is a great film and anyone would want to go and watch as a whole. They like everything about the film and would say that everyone should go and watch it the critic is off the radio and this station is aimed at 25 and above we can tell this buy there song choose as it is a bit of everything and aimed at Muso and people in to a bite off everything.

This is not that much of a reliable source because of the comments that were left at the bottom on the film were all negative and they all said they did not like the film at all. This is a review that is not acknowledged that much as they do not see this particular individual as some one reliable as it is only for a radio and most of the comment on the feedback wall was something that we could tell that no one actually really liked the film.
